This is a 1977 Mother’s Day plate - on back of plate it reads: “moonlight return” - by Sister Berta Hummel - Mother’s Day- 1977 - Limited Edition - This charming work is based on an actual incident in the early life of Sister Berta Hummel when her younger brother failed to return in time for supper, much to his Mother’s dismay. Sister Berta Created it as a special treat for her family before she entered the convent. Mrs. Viktoria Hummel, the late artists mother and legal heir, has chosen and authorized this subject for the 1977 Mother’s Day Plate - made in west Germany - Schmid Bros. This plate comes in its original box - in excellent shape and hanger on back - measures 7 3/4” inches across, with no chips, cracks, or crazing.
